“…After all, all he did was string together a lot of old, well-known quotations.” -H. L. Mencken on Shakespeare

Each week, Allies receive an agenda for a Continuous Learning Friday (created by a Public Allies Connecticut staff member) and for a Team Service Project meeting (created by whichever Ally is facilitating the meeting). Each agenda also includes a quote for the day.  Below is a sampling of my personal favorites so far.

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” — Henry Ford

“If you’ve lost the capacity to be outraged by what’s outrageous, you’re dead.” — Wendell Berry

“The greatest work is done with the heart breaking or overflowing.” — Mignon McLaughlin

Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes …t he ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules … You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things … they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” — Steve Jobs

“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” — Andrew Carnegie

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”– Nelson Mandela

“I am not interested in power for power’s sake, but I’m interested in power that is moral, that is right and that is good.”Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Action and reaction, ebb and flow, trial and error, change — this is the rhythm of living. Out of our over-confidence, fear; out of our fear, clearer vision, fresh hope. And out of hope, progress.” — Bruce Barton

“A world community can exist only with world communication, which means something more than extensive short-wave facilities scattered about the globe. It means common understanding, a common tradition, common ideas, and common ideals.” — Robert M. Hutchins

When you can lovingly be present to yourself, your presence to others takes on a deeper quality also.” — MacRina Wiederkehr

“The difficulties you meet will resolve themselves as you advance. Proceed, and light will dawn, and shine with increasing clearness on your path.” — Jim Rohn

What are some good ones you’ve heard?
